1 Peter 2:2 - As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:   From this verse we can see that milk is for babies, but as a baby grows we as their providers know that they must have some meat, to continue their development.  So it is with the word of God, we eat it daily as our bread.  And as we grow we begin to eat the meat of the word.

Hebrews 5:14 - But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Strong meat is for the mature Christian.  I found a wonderful scripture that helped me to understand what the meat of the word is.  It is found in the story about the women at the well in John chapter four.  The disciples went into town to buy some food and Jesus ministered to a Samaritan women at the well, when his disciples returned they urged him to eat.  What Jesus said is so profound.

John 4:31-34 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat."But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciple’s one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work."

Did you see it? The meat of the word is to do the will of God and finish the work.  May we eat daily what God provides.

Personal Relationships

The next part of the Our Father is: Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. This is dealing with our personal relationships’. We have seen our pos-

ition (Our Father) our praise (hallowed be thy name) our priorities (thy kingdom come and thy will be done) and our provision (this day our daily bread) now the prayer gets a little harder because we are asked to do something, what is that something?  Forgiveness, we to forgive as we have been forgiven.

Ephesians 4:32 "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."  Sometimes forgiveness’ is a very hard task, but with Gods spirit in our hearts, he can help us to forgive.

Once when I was struggling with unforgivness, I looked up all the definitions for the word forgive, of course I found pardon, release, to let a hurt go, but I couldn’t really from my heart do any of the above.  Then I came across one root word for forgive that helped me in a tremendous way, it meant to give up the wish to get even. I cannot change what you did to me or even my reaction to what happened, but I can choose to not do to you as you have done to me.
