The Lord's Prayer - Part 2
Welcome to our Breadbox, this month we are looking at the Lords prayer also known as the Our Father.
Matthew 6:9-13 "after this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Last month we looked at three parts of this prayer, First our position, (our father) second our praise (hallowed be thy name) and third is our priorities (thy kingdom come and thy be done). Now let us look at our provision.
Provision: Our Daily Bread
Give us this day our daily bread, bread is a staple in almost every part of the world. Even when Jesus was hungry after being tempted for forty days, the devil told him that if he were the son of God to turn a stone into bread. Our lord answered him in such a way that is important to all of us. Jesus said man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God Matt.4:4. Thus showing us that Gods word is our daily bread, and that just as we eat natural bread we must feed on Gods word, the prophet Jeremiah understood this;
Jer 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
The bible talks about milk, meat and bread. Three staples of life that we are all familiar with.
